Dear Friend in Unity,
On June 5th of this year I celebrated 20 active years in church ministry since being ordained at Unity Village, Missouri in 1997. It’s amazing to me how quickly the time has passed. I know that may seem to be a worn-out adage, but it sure is true! They say “My how time flies when you’re having fun!” and I supposed this is why it has not seemed like 20 long years to me at all.
I confess to all of you reading this letter, that in my third year of ministry, I doubted seriously if I could make it! I truly thought that perhaps God had something else in mind for me at the time. But as God would have it, I was sent a clear message and it came in the form of a bookmark which read, “Where God has placed a comma, never put a period!” And the author, of all people, was Gracie, George Burns’ wife!
Someone had handed me that bookmark as I sat in my office in tears over something challenging that was taking place, and so it came at a poignant time in my life. And I’ve been “doing” church ministry ever since!
I feel so blessed to have been a part of so many of your lives when you have been challenged and asked me to hold the Light--- when you have found the Love of your life and asked me to seal your union; when you have had to say goodbye to friends, family, pets as these loved ones crossed over to the other side; when you have moved through health challenges of all degrees; and simply when you needed faithful prayer support in times of need.
It has been a privilege to serve in the name of God and Jesus Christ these past 20 years. I look forward to many more years of Peace, Love, Joy and yes, time of challenge. What I know above all, is that I do not walk alone, none of us walks alone as we have God and each other. And in this Divine Partnership, we realize miracles and our Oneness with all!
