Minister's Letter January 2016

Happy New Year to all!

An unknown author wrote, “Well-managed failure is one of opportunity’s favorite disguises, waiting for a fresh start.”  Truer words were never spoken!  And why am I referring to failure here at the end of this year and the beginning of the next?  Because many of us tend to take yesterday’s failures with us into the New Year!  I have another quote I dearly love, it’s a bit lengthy, but worth the read and speaks the sentiments I wish to emphasize here today.

Jean Houston writes:  “If 90% of what you thought yesterday is what you think today, you’ve got big problems….we cannot live as limited, crippled versions of what we are, suffering the continuance of emotional plagues and toxic thoughts with the world tragically reflecting this….only through the renewing of our minds is the world renewed---and not just our minds, but our bodies, our souls….”

When I first began my studies of Unity teachings, only then did I truly understand what the Apostle Paul meant by transformation being brought about by “the renewing of our minds.”  I have learned so much about the power of the mind as a tool given to us by Spirit to help our souls to evolve, to help us move toward our own Christhood.

The launch of the New Year in 2016 affords us a golden opportunity to achieve the renewing of our minds, an opportunity to leave behind all that no longer serves us and our awakening world, and an opportunity to release the “excuse” of failure.  What we need to continually remind ourselves of, as highly creative spiritual beings, is that each year – each day, really – brings us another opportunity to manage our failures well as the anonymous author suggests.  Let’s manage them so well that they become a fresh entry into the awaiting miracle!  Wishing you all a happy, blessed and prosperous New Year!
